Climate Ready Classrooms
Climate Ready Classrooms helps young people navigate the science behind climate change and reducing their carbon footprint.
Climate Ready Classrooms is a one-day accredited Carbon Literacy training course designed for High School pupils. It uses interactive activities and examples to start a conversation about climate change. Upon completing the course, pupils receive Carbon Literacy accreditation.
Join a national network of carbon literate ambassadors acting on climate change issues in their schools and communities.
Geography teacher Hayley Leitch describes her experience:

The course can be delivered in whichever format is most suited to your pupils and can be discussed once you have registered via the online form below.
Train the Trainer
We also offer Climate Ready Classrooms: Train the Trainer accredited sessions for educators. This course will train you to deliver carbon literacy training for High School pupils. Suitable for teachers, head teachers, CLD practitioners, and youth and children’s workers.
The Train the Trainer course is designed to inform you on climate change, in order to teach it, and what we can do as a society, as individuals, and as groups to take climate action.
This online version covers 4 units, completed over 4 weeks, covering:
1. Climate Conversations
2. Exploring the Climate Change Science
3. Rebalancing and Taking Climate Action
4. Impacts and Taking Climate Action
On one afternoon every week, there will be a 30-minute, live Q&A session, giving participants the opportunity to put forward questions and observations about the course.
The live Q&A sessions is carried out using Microsoft Teams.
At the end, as with the face-to-face course, you will submit an evidence form which will be sent to The Carbon Literacy Project, the body which accredits this course. If certified, you will then receive a certificate which recognises you as 'carbon literate', and you can then reteach the course.
This brilliant experience has inspired to me change/alter my actions to lower my carbon footprint and to spread awareness among my peers to hopefully inspire them to take action just like me.
Brandon Lei (S6) Lornshill Academy
The class really enjoyed the carbon cycle activity and the whole-day workshops which completely incorporated active learning, and enthusing a new generation of learners in battling carbon emissions.
